Abstract
The book edited by Jean-François Marcel and Christophe Gremion, Évancipation dans l’institution, oser le rapprochement entre émancipation et évaluation, brings together the proceedings of a symposium organized in 2022 at the University of Strasbourg by the Groupe Évaluation des Pratiques Professionnelles (GEVAPP). The symposium was entitled “Émancipation, institution, évaluation. Un triptyque pour penser une évaluation émancipatrice ?” This line of questioning arises precisely because such a triptych may appear to be a source of tensions. As Jean-Marie De Ketele emphasizes in his preface (p. 10), insofar as the institution is an “organization of transmission,” it may indeed act as “a force of resistance to change.” How, then, might an “emancipatory evaluation” contribute to transforming an “institution into an environment offering accessible opportunities that can be seized, and thus open to other possibilities” (pp. 10–11)?
