Animals, vulnerable individuals? The ethics of care tested at the frontier of specie

Abstract

Abstract

This article looks at the possibility of animals being considered as subjects of the ethics of care. Through a presentation of the latter, followed by an exposition of the main arguments put forward by defenders of the theory of animal rights, it appears that animals could benefit from care insofar as the power relations, particularly of a capitalist order, which destine all non-human beings to be perceived as property, are taken into account.

Keywords: animals, care, rights, power, transformation.
