Abstract
The latest reforms in vocational training have made certification one of the central concepts in the French training system. But what professional qualifications are we talking about? Recent developments in France and promoted by the European Union aim to promote the transparency, comparability and transferability of qualifications awarded in Europe, in particular by proposing a nomenclature of levels of training and credit systems, but also to encourage Member States to develop micro-certifications in order to integrate them into education and training systems and participate in employment and labour market policies. These developments raise questions. Are certifications and micro-certifications still aimed at qualification?
